Luscious. Healing. Lip Balm

Adios to dry, chapped lips and commercial, toxic lip balms. My luscious, healing, lip balm has finally solved my chapped lips situation. I’m claiming it >>> I am the queen of chapped lips! <<< The simple key here is to put this lip balm on! It is another really simple DIY recipe to make AND it’s natural and no-tox!
The skin on our lips is thin and prone to flaking and drying. Air conditioning, synthetic products and stress does not help your lips cause either. My mum had been forever telling me to ‘stop peeling your lips’. I wasn’t peeling my lips, they were flaking off! I was just taking off the dry/dead skin that looked disgusting.
So, give this lil’ recipe a go…I’m sure you’ll love it!
Ingredients
35 grams organic beeswax
20 grams cacao butter
25 grams jojoba oil
About 1/2 tablespoon of raw honey – this gives it sweetness and health benefits of honey. Don’t go overboard here thinking it will taster yummier because it will end up being sticky.
20-25 drops of Essential Oils
Essential oil ideas:
Spearmint 15 drops + Frankincense 10 drops
Peppermint 15 drops + Frankincense 10 drops
Peppermint 10 drops + Spearmint 15 drops
Spearmint 20 drops + Geranium 5 drops
Rosemary 8 drops + Spearmint 8 drops + Frankincense 5 drops
— The combinations are endless! You can order your oils HERE
Tools You’ll Need
Shallow pan
Pyrex jug or glass jar/vessel. Something that will be easy to pour out of – I used an old Pyrex 2 cup jug with a little pouring spout
Lip balm pots. You can get them HERE
Method
I like to weigh my ingredients because beeswax and cacao butter comes in many sizes and can be tricky to fit neatly into a cup.
Measure out all your ingredients and have them ready to go.
Fill the pan with enough water to go up the sides of the pyrex container by about an inch.
Pop the pan on your cook top and set to low-medium heat.
Sit the pyrex jug into the pan.
Pop your wax, cacao butter, jojoba oil and honey in the pyrex dish and stir while it melts. Aim to keep the temp low. Every few minutes I would move the pan off the heat and continue stirring the ingredients in the glass jar
When completely melted,CAREFULLY take the pyrex dish out of water. CAREFULLY check that you can touch the outside of the jar. If you cannot, wait for a moment. WHY? Because you don’t want the wax to be too hot for the essential oils as it will destroy some of their benefits AND you need to keep yourself safe and burn free.
When you can touch the outside of the jar, add your essential oils stirring well.
Then pour into your lip balm pots.
NOTES:
- Some wax will set in the jar as you pour, that’s okay, just scrape it out with a clean knife and smoosh/mush it into a lip balm pot.
- This makes about 12 x 10ml pots.
- These make awesome PRESENT! What are you going to do with 12 lip balms? Spread the love, start sharing these little luscious lip pots around with your nearest and dearest OR anyone that has chapped lips!
