Deepening Yoga Practice with doTERRA
We will be sharing our oils and participating in some yoga classes at the Wanderlust Festival on Cockatoo Island on 20 February 2015. So I thought I would share how I use doTERRA essential oils to enhance my yoga practice. Pure essential oils have the highest vibrational frequencies of any measured natural substance and so they can really elevate your practice.
Using essential oils ties in perfectly with one of the foundations of yoga, the breath. With each breath you can elevate your practice as essential oils can reduce stress, boost bodily healing and restore balance. Everyone has a unique response to the oils so it can be helpful to take a minute to see what resonates with you.
Essentials oils are the natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers and other parts of plants and trees. It is these naturally occurring compounds that can powerfully and instantly activate physical and emotional relief. Each batch of oils is tested rigorously to ensure they are free from pesticides, artificial ingredients or fillers and that the correct species of plant is used ensuring purity and potency these qualities make doTERRA essential oils the purest and safest oils available in the world.
The oils can be used aromatically, topically and internally to benefit our body, mind and spirit:
Aromatically: Diffusing the oils in the room where you will practice is an easy way to integrate the oils into your practice. Smell is so powerful, when the aromatic compounds are inhaled the olfactory system is activated (all the organs connected to smell). Molecules will also make their way into the lungs and will affect the brain (limbic system). Eucalyptus or the Respiratory Blend may be diffused throughout the practice to open up the airways and this is particularly helpful if there are respiratory issues. Another way to use the oils aromatically might be to place a few drops on a tissue and place it next to your mat.
Topically: You can apply the oils directly to your skin. It is recommended to dilute the oils using a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil. You can apply the essential oil/s to one of, or all of the 7 chakras of the body, paying special attention to using an oil which is appropriate for that chakra for example using Frankincense on the crown chakra or the Grounding Blend under the feet to ground the root chakra. You could also simply place an oil which you find to be uplifting like Elevation or Wild Orange on your wrist to be inhaled as you flow through your practice.
Internally: Adding a few drops of Lemon, Lime or Orange oil to your glass or stainless steel water bottle can boost the detoxification process that is already occurring throughout your yoga practice.
Once you find your focus or need and which oil/s resonate with you, apply one of the above techniques to elevate your practice and wellbeing, just choose the oils that work for you and breathe in.
